FAQ's

You've popped the question, do you have any others?

Why pick a celebrant over a registrar?

So a registrar is employed by the council to officiate weddings. I worked for Winchester Registration Service for a year on over 100 weddings. Marrying people was lovely but it was here I realised there had to be ANOTHER WAY!  You only meet the person that is going to marry you half an hour before and the 15 minute script is *pretty much* the same whether you get married in Bath or Bognor.   On a Saturday we often hurtled through 6 - 8 ceremonies.   The content, photographers movement and amount of readings etc was also often restricted!

With a celebrant there are so few restrictions with what we offer - I LOVE saying YES as much as you did at your proposal!  I will take the time to get to know you both and create a BESPOKE & personalised ceremony that truly reflects your love story.   Proper perks of choosing a celebrant led ceremony are there are no restrictions on location, time & content!

Where are you based? Do you travel?

Home is near Winchester in Hampshire - a county that mixes forest, city & beach.  I love living here!

My go to counties are Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Gloucestershire and London!

However I travelled nationally and internationally for work for many years so if you think I’m the right celebrant for you but your dream day is slightly further afield then get in contact – I’m sure we can hatch a plan!

Can a celebrant legally marry us?

Not yet! Independent celebrants don’t have the legal authority to marry couples in the UK.  Most of my couples give notice & marry at a registry office for around £90 in the weeks leading up to their wedding day - you could also do it afterwards or if it’s not important to you -not at all!  You certainly do NOT have to say vows or exchange rings as part of these legalities – you can save them for YOUR big day!

Think of it like registering a birth or death. Its essentially signing of the paperwork and making the life event legal.  Marriage is the same.

Where can we get married?

Pretty much anywhere!

Beach, barn, hotel, field, festival, castle, woodland, theatre, pier, stately home, favourite pub garden – the world is your oyster once you've chosen a celebrant led ceremony!

As we don't require a licence you have the flexibility and freedom to choose a location that really makes your heart sing!

And don’t worry I have heels and wellies!

Are you accredited?

So I am an independent celebrant.  I do not practice Humanism or any religion, which gives me the freedom to work with couples with no beliefs, different beliefs and everything in between.  I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy.

When can I get married?

Anytime of day, any time of year!

Want to get married as the sun sets on the longest day of the year? Want to get married at midnight on NYE? Same day as your engagement? SURE!

Depending on your choices your ceremony is likely to be between 20-45 minutes.

It's all possible when you choose a celebrant!
